(Rosmarinus officinalis) It is an evergreen  shrub from the mint family native to the Mediterranean region, where it often grows by the sea. It is a relative of the basil and oregano herbs. It is a natural insecticide and protects other plants in the garden with its presence.

Rosemary contains high levels of camphor, which gives it a wonderful and pungent scent. It helps alleviate nervous conditions, headaches, and respiratory conditions. It is a natural antiseptic, astringent, and tonic. It is helpful in alleviating rheumatism and gout, as well as kidney stones. It has high levels of vitamin A, manganese, zinc, calcium, and potassium.

The small needles should be crushed or minced to bring out the flavor before sprinkling over or rubbing on food. It is used in many  dishes including meats and breads.
